PostNuke

Flexible Content Management System

News

SlashPoint.com - News you can use

You might ask why there is a need for such a site when there are a million others like it. To that, I would answer: "Because there is no major portal based on PostNuke and because there is no major portal running as an open source project and no major site like this is running on PostNuke...yet".
Besides that, the only good way to produce a good publishing system is to make it while it is actually being used. Therefore, the goal here is to set up a groundwork to take PostNuke a step further and to serve the people of the planet with IT-news they can use.

However, to make SlashPoint.com work we need some skilled people to participate in the making. The project will be run very much as PostNuke is run with different positions and functions.

The hosting is in place and now all we need is a few good men and women:

- A killer theme needs to be created as well as site graphics (designers)
- Writers and editors (a lot)
- Programmers (already here but need someone that wants to focus on this project for tweaking and knowledge sharing with the rest of PostNuke community)
- An overall Site admin/webmaster
- And more that I cannot think of right now. (perhaps that million dollar man with the need to donate his money to this open source community project.)

Anyways, if you are interested in this project or have any questions then let me know! You can reach me at lars (at) slashpoint.com.

Urgent Paid Work!

There is a rapidly growing but loose network of web development companies, and individuals who are working virtually exclusively with CMS' there is also a massive and virtually untapped market of clients who need the job done, at a price that suits.

SiteBid.com plugs that gap, and through heavy online promotion should attract organisations seeking to maximise their online presence with a dynamic CMS.

There are other similar services on the internet, however none specialise in the deployment of Open Source CMS systems only, and the leading sites charge as much as $100 per month plus commission.

It is free for developers to register as a professional on SiteBid, furthermore we will apply a $5 bonus credit to your account, to ensure you make money before we do! This will be deducted from the extremely reasonable 1% commission rate, meaning you pay no commission on the first $500 worth of business that you successfully bid for.

As for the commissions; the majority will be spent on marketing the services of our registered professionals to the wider world. Using a range of techniques including affiliate programmes, PPC placement, button and banner campaigns, and regular press releases submitted to the world's online and real world media.

SiteBid aims to quickly secure a steady stream of buyers who will be posting their projects online, but before we can do that we need the professionals who are ready, willing and able to come on over, register, and complete their profile so we can show you the money and let the bidding commence.

New idea: Editing look-and-feel

I did a little experimentation with this by placing block move arrows next to each block on the homepage. This allows the administrator to move his sideblocks around on his homepage, instead of going into the blocks administration panel. These arrows are only visible to the administrator, so there's no security problem.

I'd like to also add support for deactivating and activating blocks from the home page. This way everything can be done visually, and the administrator can see the results instantly.

This idea could be expanded on quite a bit by trying to make all administrative functions accessible directly from the homepage. My vision is of a postnuke that allows the administrator to do all page customizations visually, even resizing tables and images, although I realize how difficult that could be to implement.

If anyone has any thoughts or criticisms of this approach, fire away.

I'd like to give code back to the postnuke community more than I have, so this would be a good project for me.

Make nukes not war!

Hungarian translation for pn .713

The server address is <A HREF=http://postnuke.labs.ro>postnuke.labs.ro.

There you can download the latest language pack from Downloads (generated on the fly from the system, which is always running on the latest version for tests). You can link to the forum and the bugtracker to get information or fixing minor bugs in the translation, if any.

The installation script (newdata.php) was also translated, so you can get a 100% Hungarian system if you do fresh install.

Some other modules are also in the work, XForum, PostCalendar and more. We are looking for voulnteers who will translate some more important modules and help the core team with ideas in the bugzilla!
