New "News" module with slight ehancement

All I did was hack the MPN index.php a little to get this working in place of the current index.php. Just unzip it into your main PN directory and PLEASE read the install document in the admin modules section so that you get an idea on some options since it is an alternative News module.

This module does conform to the .64 way of doing modules so it should be considered offical. I also uploaded this to mods.postnuke.com.

You can get the file from http://www.boardjive.com/downloads/NPNews.zip

  • Nuke themes and a challenge

I think that the theme model has got to change so that you can use a dev tool like Dreamweaver or GoLive to create an html file that has >?php> (sorry about the brackets, the text sanitizer is killing me here) scripts in it so that dynamic content comes through.

Since I'm still very new to the nuke scene and have done only some initial hacks and porting of modules, it seems like this task would not be that daunting especially since the index.php system has been modularized in .64. Am I wrong about this?

It should be as simple as creating a html template and putting in ">?php leftblock($leftuppercornerimg, $thbgdimg, $thbgdcolor, $rightuppercornerimg, $tblbgdimg, $tblbgdcolor, $title) ?>". If you don't fill in one of the parameters, the css kicks in.

I'm probably forgetting something here but, this should be applicable to all the blocks whereby you specify the fill information and the backend fills in the images.

Am I off base here or is there a better way?

Recent Nuke Hacks and How to Stop Them

the .htaccess file reads like this:

    Order Deny,Allow
    DENY from 66.21.117.
    DENY FROM .ummah.net
    DENY FROM 217.173.64.
    ALLOW FROM ALL

This will stop the current round of Tzunami attacks on nuke sites... he copies your config.php to the images dir as a text file as well... he does create a few other files in the images dir -- so, for those who were hacked, my condolences - hope y'all appreciate the fix... and know that this grey hat is working with the fbi in resolution and information sharing. -- so, please, share your logs with the proper people if you fell victim to this, it is important.
