Integration with phpbb2 Needed

If you check their forums, you will see alot of bitterness and resentment amongst the phpbb2 members against some guy who started a pn+phpbb2 conversion project on SF.

Here is my conclusion::

We NEED to get phpbb2 integrated into postnuke. Currently, we have several message forum systems but nothing that is up to the standard of phpbb2. In order to develop a complete community portal, strong forums are necessary. The forum systems available to postnuke at this stage simply dont have anywhere near the development time that phpbb2 has into it.

I have minimal coding skills, but would love to help out or organize an effort to convince the phpbb2 guys to at least consider forming a positive relationship with the postnuke community that would benefit both parties. THEN begin a project to provide means to merge the two.

Calling all Module and Themes developers...

What's going on with modules?

The bad news - modules will need to be rewritten in order to be 'native' to PostNuke 0.71 and above.

The good news - the new ModulesAPI will now allow all modules to keep working with subsequent releases of PostNuke. As long as a module is coded with the API, compatibility with future releases is assured.

The better news - the new pnLegacy code will allow running existing legacy modules within this layer, in order to allow your modules to work practically unmodified, until you port them over to the new API.

Currently, pnLegacy is going through tests, as we are trying to figure out all function calls that legacy modules make, so they can be integrated. To this end, I encourage you to download the latest CVS builds (which are published daily at

http://www.mykrystonia.net/cvsbuilds
(NOTE: These CVS builds are NOT intended for production environments.

Or simply grab them via anonymous CSV checkout.
(NOTE: These CVS builds are NOT intended for production environments. It can't be said enough)

Last but not least, if you know of any other module and themes developers you believe can benefit from being on this list, please let me know.

Search and Return table of results

I would like it to maintain a list of course type*, host*,location*, date, cost, contact, contact email, contact phone, link to website, link to pdf file. (* searchable fields)

I would like people to be able to add the course and the pdf file to the database.

Does anyone have anything like this, for Rogue? I would really appreciate.

PostNuke in the Classroom, The Ribbon is Cut!

Well, the distribution list is up on edu-postnuke@ebzb.com (I have changed it from ed-dev@ebzb.com-- both aliases will still work) I don't have major-domo running yet so just send a note asking to be added and I will do just that.

Better yet, go to the new home of PostNuke in the Classroom --- or any other type of network medium in the classroom you want to talk about, then register and sign on to http://www.ebzb.com to share your inights. There is plenty of free soda in the break room to keep the cafeine coursing through your veins. After all this is school!!!.

I am very excited that introducing my daughters third grade website on http://the.classof2011.info created the storm of interest it has, as well as being proud to host this new site.

Bring your ideas along and drop in. Whether you are a teacher, administrator, web designer, parent, student, engineer-- or just curious. Your thoughts and insights are what is going to make this site rock. I could use some assistance if anyone has the ability to help out in the area of a banner and some topic graphics to start. In reality, I think I as well as everyone else can all lean on each other a bit when it comes to how to make a child's learning experience more fruitful. It will be something to see what happens when we all work together.

After all... it's all about the children.

Snip, Snip!

Welcome -- John
