Thank you for helping us improve organization on PostNuke.com.

  • Membership ecommerce gateway.

I was hoping that these could be used to enable us the ability to charge for membership to our sites or charge to upgrade status to a higher permission level. I think this would be a great standard feature of postnuke with the ability to turn that option on or off to suit the needs of the webmasters.

With this we should have the ability to automatically set higher levels of permission or allow registration because pay pal can send the info we require back to our postnuke script to process the user after payment.

If we set up re-occuring billing with paypal then it will automatically suspend or turn off access to that user for non-payment till we turn them back on.

    See description and link below.

    --------------------------
PHP class is designed to work with PayPal's Instant Payment Notification system. When someone sends you money via PayPal, either with send money, single item purchase, or shopping cart purchase, PayPal can send the information to a script on your server. All of the information sent from PayPal is in a POST ($HTTP_POST_VARS), so using the information (emailing it or inserting it into your database) is the easy part. The more complicated part is that PayPal requires you to send an identical POST back to PayPal to verify the order. After that it sends a response which tells you if it was a valid order (i.e. came from PayPal), or invalid (i.e. someone tried to run your script manually). This verification is what this class will do for you.

An example script comes with the class that should give you a clear example of how to use the class. In fact, you can probably use the example script as a template for your final script - just add your own processing information near the bottom of the script (i.e. inserting the order into a database, etc).

For more information on how the PayPal IPN system works and what variables are sent, please check the documentation on PayPal's web site.

    DHTML Dropdown menus...

Hi. I am wondering about the possibility of incorporating HierMenus with
PostNuke (www.postnuke.com). PostNuke is a popular PHP driven news
portal system. What are the issues we should be looking at regarding the
above? What about complications regarding PostNuke being open source and
    totally free?

    Thanks in advance.

My attempt to translate Postnuke with a lot of fustrations can be seen at...

    http://www.experttek.com

Now, I have no idea of what exaccly I have to do with this translated files. I tried fo follow the Online Instructions. I looked on Source Forge, documentation e bucj of other places and could not find a step-by-step on how to create a new language module and intall it. The online documentations that came with it seems very confusing and worked very weird for me. You can check my website an see how it came out translated. I still need to translate the header menu links.

What I want to do since I already had this huge work of translating these files is be able to give them to you and you figure what to do with it. Maybe you can put somewhere on your site or sourceforge for some other people try to figure it out how to install. I spent at least 5 days translating theses files without even nowing if they were the right one. And now I am fustrated cuz I can use them.
Let me know if you are interested in receiving the files. Give me an e-mail address so I can send them to you.

    Thank you for you attention.

    Postnuke Modifications - Interested ?

The mods are based on 0.6.4, so a little out of date now (these were done around november last year). They were for a community website at http://www.long-clawson.com/ so you can see them in action there if you want.

    - Submit News Wizard: This was for a really technophobe audience, so tried to make it a simple as possible.
    - Pop-up menu (javascript): this is dynamically regenerated when changes are made to topics
    - Navigation tree: as above. We wanted an (apparent) hierarchical topic structure
    - (Very specific) Coordinates field added to topics so that they could be associated with a map
    - WAP access
    - Articles with Embedded Pictures and document attachements (not just HTML, needed to be user friendly)
    - Events and Calendar: I've seen others since, but mine was an extension to the existing article submision rather than completely separate (bad move probably !)
    - Mailing list facility: Others I found weren't automated. Mine lets us setup future weekly mails in advance. It also trawls the articles and events.

These additions required changes to the database and changes/additions to some of the core code and (eg config.php, header.php and some modules). Some minor, others major. So its not the sort of thing you'd want to implement in isolation like I had to.

Most other things on the website are pretty standard, a few things are extensions on the above (eg site map).

Lessons Learnt: I knew it at the time, but needed certain facilities for our specific purpose - of course I'll now be stuck at 0.6.4 for some time to come, and need to manually verify any patches and enhancements that come along.
